Highlanders Announce First Signing For 2020 Season
VICTORIA, B.C. – The Highlanders are pleased to announce the first signing of 2020, the returning Goteh Ntignee, pending league approval. Ntignee, a forward, marks the first addition to Vikram Virk’s 2020 Pacific Coast Soccer League squad.
The agile forward played with the Highlanders during the 2019 USL League Two season. That season saw the 2002-born forward post four goals in eight games as he amassed 617 minutes on the pitch. Ntignee won the Sir John Jackson Cup with Niendorf’s Westcastle United side of the Vancouver Island Soccer League in 2019 and walked away with the Denny Girvin Memorial Award for Game MVP. The Kpomassè, Benin native recorded three goals in VISL Division One play with Westcastle United during the 2019-20 campaign.
“We are excited to have Goteh back with us for the upcoming season,” commented Virk. “He is a young, exciting attacking player that fits the identity of the team. I think everyone saw what Goteh is all about last year in the USL 2 season. He adds pace, power, and is a constant goal threat. He can be a real handful to play against.”
Ntignee's experience includes a spell with the Canadian Program, having been invited to participate in the U-15 National ID Camp in 2017. His time at the camp included the opportunity to be a part of the U-15 National Showcase as a part of the Canada U-15 select team.
The Highlanders open their season at Royal Athletic Park as they host the First Leg of the Juan De Fuca Plate against Vancouver TSS Rovers on Sunday, May 3rd. Kickoff is set for 2PM.
