The high-school education program is a hybrid learning system in partnership with Belmont Secondary School. Our structure provides a holistic approach that will simultaneously develop Highlanders Residency members in both the classroom and on the field in a consistent location and with a schedule reflective of a professional environment.
Highlanders Residency Students will participate in traditional classes for core courses, such as Math, Sciences, English and Social Studies. While they will take online learning facilitated through Westshore Learning, which is housed at Belmont Secondary in a "distributed learning centre".
Belmont Secondary will track progress, homework completion, absences, etc. of all Residency students, and will provide a "Tag Teacher". This ensures there is a direct point of contact for Residency and parents to monitor the Highlanders Residency student-athletes in regards to their needs for schooling support.
