Former Highlanders ‘Keeper Wirth Signs With Phoenix Rising FC
Phoenix Rising Football Club announced the signing former Highlanders FC goalkeeper Nolan Wirth earlier this summer.
Wirth was a member of the Highlanders in 2016, the club’s first year back in the PDL.
Wirth’s collegiate career saw him play the previous three seasons with Oregon State University. In 2016 he started in 12 matches, allowing just 14 goals and collecting three clean sheets on the way to a 4-5-3 record. In 2017, Wirth was also a former Whitecaps FC residency player and broke preseason camp with Whitecaps FC 2 but went unsigned.
Phoenix Rising FC is a member of the United Soccer League (USL), North American’s second division of professional soccer behind Major League Soccer (MLS). The recently rebranded club is looking to make the jump to the MLS, and have recently welcomed the support of Didier Drogba as co-owner/player to aid in their pursuit of being awarded an MLS franchise.
