A new logo, a new identity: A new era begins
VICTORIA, BC - Today, a new era begins. Victoria Highlanders FC is just over two months away from kicking off what will be the club’s tenth year of operation. The team will celebrate the milestone with a new logo and new visual identity.
The logo, which will debut for the upcoming Premier Development League (PDL) season, represents the very essence of Highlanders. The distinctive shield shape is inspired by the crest of Victoria. The maple leaf, the universal symbol Canada, and a VH for Victoria Highlanders.
The club's new visual identity features clean lines, a striking simplicity and represents the Highlanders’ ambition to transcend beyond the field of play to a variety of areas; including an improved merchandise line for fans.
The logo was developed by renowned American graphic designer Matthew Wolff. Previous Wolff projects include the creation of the visual identities for New York City FC and Los Angeles FC of Major League Soccer.
"Our ownership group are excited to have worked with Matthew on this project," stated co-owner Mark deFrias. "We had a very specific vision - we wanted to represent are colours, city and country boldly but keeping a simplistic approach so that we could be flexible in its use for multiple platforms moving forward. We couldn't be more pleased with the result, and we can't wait to see the players and fans wearing it proudly."
The new visual identity will be implemented immediately in upcoming merchandising and will be available shortly on the Highlanders’ new online store, which will be launched this month.
Victoria Highlanders FC return to Premier Development League action beginning May 11, 2018. The club will announce further developments in the coming weeks. For more information, please visit www.highlandersfc.ca.
