VICTORIA, BC – Victoria Highlanders FC announced Thursday, the appointment of Stefan Fletcher as Head Coach of the Highlanders’ Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL) men’s team. Fletcher brings decades of experience in elite sports to the Highlanders organization, where he will help develop the city’s upcoming local talent.

Born in New Zealand, Fletcher’s soccer career was cut short due to injury, guiding him into the physiotherapy field where he has been met with much success. The current VISL Division 1 (Vic West) soccer coach and past coach of boys and girls High Performance Level (HPL) youth programs, is also Chief Executive Officer of Victoria-based Rebalance MD, a centre that treats Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy, Physiatry and Sports Medicine, among other services. Fletcher also helped launch the Sports Medicine department at the Pacific Institute of Sports Excellence (PISE) as a member of the management committee of PISE. Fletcher currently sits on the board of Camosun College.

“This program is about developing players, but it is also highly competitive,” Fletcher stated. “I’m looking forward to working with players that I worked with at a younger age who are now returning from the collegiate level. I’m looking forward to working with them and helping establish the Highlanders program as an attractive destination for players to come develop in the years to come.”

This year marks the first season that the Highlanders will field both Premier Development League (PDL), as well as PCSL Reserve squads simultaneously.

“The club is very excited to welcome Stefan as our PCSL head coach,” Highlanders co-owner and PDL head coach Dave Dew added. “Stefan’s pedigree within the Victoria’s sports community is second-to-none and his sporting experience will no doubt pay dividends when it comes to helping shape the future of local soccer talent in our community.”

Highlanders FC open their 2017 PDL season on May 14 at Centennial Stadium against Lane United FC at 2:00 p.m. PST. For 2017 tickets, please click HERE or visit for more information.
