Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, McCurdy relocated to Victoria in August 2016 and holds dual citizenship. The defender played for Kingston Clippers in Ontario League One, and registered 11 goals in 2015 before suffering an injury setback in 2016. McCurdy and Kingston FC finished at the top of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL) table in 2013, a year in which he also nominated for CSL defender of the year. McCurdy’s resume also includes time with Linfield FC’s U-18 squad in the Irish Football Association Youth League, where he won a Youth League title and Youth League cup. As a dual citizen he was selected to represent Canada in the Olympic Development Program in Florida in 2008.
