Victoria Highlanders are in a heated race for first place in the Pacific Coast Soccer League with Mid Isle Mariners and Vancouver United FC. Highlanders going into today’s match were tied with the Mariners in first place on 16 points from 9 games played.

Having tied FC Tigers Vancouver at home May 10th, the encounter in Richmond earlier today with the winless Tigers was setting itself up for a trap game.

Highlanders coach, David Dew prepared the men well, with a solid team effort in defeating Tigers FC 4:o at King George Turf Field in Richmond. Goals from Webb (29′); Brian Im from Adam Almeida (59′); Almeida from Mackenzie Cole & Dominic Colontonio (84′) and Cole from Adam Ravenhill (89′).

Keeper, Noah Pawlowski netted his third consecutive shutout, all coming on the road.

“It was very impressive to see three substitutes come on and score three goals between them in the second half”, quoted pleased head coach, David Dew. “The work we have done on attacking play over the past few weeks has really paid off”.

Highlanders are back home for a pair of games next weekend. They look to hold off Khalsa Sporting Club who have games in hand next Saturday, June 13th, 4pm kick-off. On Sunday, June 14th, Vancouver Thunderbirds pay a visit for a 2pm kick off, both games at Royal Athletic Park.

Single game tickets on sale online at Select Your Tickets or pay by cash at the park. Gates open one hour prior to kick off.
